This city has produced many classic mixtapes. Remember when all the popular jungle dj's each had their own series going on? Shyat.. they were all wicked really.. however everyone seemed to have that one tape that they played till it sounded like mud.

I'd have to say my alltime fav was Sniper vol 8. (the one with the shark). I remember chillin in Xstatic when I first heard this badboy.. at first I thought wow.. those last few tracks were pretty sick.. then after 20 minutes i thought jesus.. this thing just doesn't let up.. then after that it really started to get good.

this tape must have passed through the hands of everyone i knew who partied at the time.. made so many copies that i don't even know where the original is anymore.. i do have 3 copies of various age tho.

props to snipe.. this one was classick!

Ruffneck vol 7. (the pink/purple bedroom sessions one) was killar. that got alot of rotation too.

yup

I remember having Pure Rotterdam Vol II, it was my prized posession back in grade ten...heh.

Mix tape?

Hmmm...

Sniper-Phallphunk and Time to get Dark, I remember talking to Toxic about these tapes at some party one night for a couple hours.

Ive since found a set on Soulseek that had 90% of those tunes, Sniper w/Fearless Syrous Studio Session is what it's called.

my fav's: sniper 10"hard steppin" (wicked openings on both sides); marcus 4; agreed on ruffneck 7 (da classic ragga choons); sniper 2 (no cover or case, just a black tape with a handwritten label I bought from the discount bin in X-static)

First jungle mixtape I ever bought was Jungle PhD - Enter the Jungle. it was a TDK tape with his writing on it sold at Play De. Anytime I play that tape now I'm in flashback mode.. wicked mix of ambientish jungle and some hard stuff. Always loved PhD's sets no matter where he played.

My favorite Toronto mixtape is probaly Slip and Slide Flexin with the tech. Not as old school as the ones mentioned above but seriously kick ass.

If anyone has a full copy i'd love it as i was dubbing it for a friend one day and had the tapes reversed ( was a drunkin' recording session), needless to say the intro was dubbed over with dead air and it had a pretty sick intro.

Dominik still plays the odd party. He was at Darkrave in December I think it was. His style is way different than the Pure Rotterdam days. He's way more aggresive on the mixer (serious) and the hardcore he spins is hard to describe.. alot of it laced with hip hop samples tho (and i'm not talking about beastie boys either). Funny to think he used to draw over the headliner at most parties..

i dunno, its hard for me to tell what is the best jungle tape ever for 1 reason.....
since i started going to parties (1990) i've been hangin out with the man like the SIGMA 7..so i'm biased. huh.gif
i've heard every mix with every known tune and i gotta say he's the best. for awhile i was going to throw out all my good tapes and just replace them with his (cuz he's got the best tunes i've ever heard)
i've heard him mix everything from classic house, trance, my rotterdam/hardcore, but when he throws down the jungle or the drum and bass.......STEP BACK cuz things are gettin crazy blink.gif
i wish more sigma tapes could have been recorded at syrous parties cuz i think right now he would have been bigger & better than most u.k dj's.....honestly (not cuz he's my bro).
peace
