For me it was 1993 - 2000. '93 was when I got into the scene and every day since no stop. It started to change in '98 and it took me a while to get in to the new sounds. Then the break of a new decade sucked me in.
But with all that change the vibe is the same for me. PLUR Always |

Big up the toronto massive. By far the best beats came from the 93-95 era then it seemed to go downhill until the sounds of C64, and frankie gunns revived the bad boy jungle beats for me in Toronto. Big up Splinter and Threshold

for me it was definately the ragga period. 1994-1996. thats when i felt jungle came into its own and truly separated off from other styles of rave music. before that i thought it was still closely linked to breakbeat hardcore style stuff. ragga parties always had that crazy killer vibe and there were so many classic tracks released during that period.

Well I wasn't introduced to Jungle till 95. But from then to 97 it was pretty much ALL i was listening to. It was everything to me....loved it. Still do, but I've become a breaks fanatic too :p |

I think for most people it would have to be around when they first heard it. The 97-98 tech step sound is still my most favorite. I guess in some aspects it may seem to actually be a reduction in tune complexity for a lot of the older heads but there is just some thing about a straight rolling beat that gets me. The simplicity in it. Some people are really inito the edits and it seems like they are making a comeback now but give me a touch of sticky green and some nice 98-era T.O.V and RAM singles and I'll be happy. Of course a big part of it has to do with your memories from those times as well and those were good years for me.
It may not be as a huge part of my life these days but there are still so many amazing tunes being produced. So many. I love new and old. |

ill say 92-95.
the initial morph into the breakbeats, and then the full onslaught of jungle, including, imo, the golden years in this city, when syrous and delirium where runnin the show. we could bring those djs back, play the same music, even get the same venue, but i doubt the feeling and vibe would be the same. fuck i love this site. nostalgia X 1.000.000.000 |

Oh wow, Big Up for the support thats awsome. I glad that we are all in the same era. I was told by a friend a long time ago that " Jungle will never die as long as the indaviguals that are true to the sound stick with it. "
Thanks agian ryd |

For me it's hard to answer. When I first got into it around 93 or 94 most of my friends were into it. The ones that weren't? - were down with jungle a year or two later. In those days I'd go to a party and see so many friends to this day I don't believe it.
Now most of my friends aren't into jungle. I go record shopping pretty much weekly so I know people through that but the odd time I go out I know very little people there. But in my heart it means the same to me now as it did then - it's just experienced differently - that jungle drum and bass to me is the sound track to my life. It's so varied and with so many genres it's almost indescribable, but to lovers of the sound just the word JUNGLE will make you smile. I think it's time to play some records! |

By far '95 was the best year for me. I was young and only went to a few parties that year but every single one of them was OFF THE HOOK!
I still listen to the new stuff, I party whenever a good DJ is in town.. Like Hype this week at system.. and kenny ken the week after.. but I find the new stuff is only good when im at parties.. i still wont play many records from post 1995.. It just changed way too much, I love the complexity of the old tunes.. And dont get me started on ragga.. I miss the times when MC's would actually shut the hell up for the good parts.. instead of the bidda badda boo crap they yell now over the rare good song you do hear... |
