The Vault Toronto Rave Forum _ England Raves _ Fabio 4 & 5

Posted by: sigma Dec 15 2003, 02:46 AM

By far the most influencial, most important set ever to make it across from England. In my opinion these two tapes set the Toronto Jungle scene in motion. If it wasnt for these tapes I can honestly say Syrous probably would never of happened. This was the tape that got me hyped. It all started with a friend of Alans ( XStatic owner ), his name was Jason, someone i knew from raves and hanging out at xstatic, pretty cool guy, total clubber. He went on a trip to London one week with a little help from Alan and while he was there he picked up various tapes, buying only popular or new releases in the london rave scene. This is one of the many tapes he brought back, some of the others are just as wicked and important in their own right, but this tape is like no other. Almost magical. Dj Fabio and MC GQ set a new standard in this live set at Paradise Club. Fabio's selection was just incredible and his mixing is unreal. Just a wicked atmosphere all around. Brilliant.

I dont know, I just think he set the bar too high with this performance, plus the music was alot different back then so his style blended nicely. I never heard him do a performance that could of matched this one.

Yea when we first heard those tapes we made sure they got out to the public quickly. Those double pack tapes were the shit back then. It was the new sound.

MAN, I am almost at the end of the first tape and am downloading the second one, and I have to say this is some of the rawwwest shit I have heard. Why don't they make jungle like this anymore? Why don't people dj like this anymore? anyways just thought I would say thanks for livening up my night, now back to work

"Let It It Go, Fabio"

Posted by: green_souljah Mar 14 2007, 02:00 PM

My very first tape was an Fabio 3-1993 from xxxstatic- I was living up north and was just itching for "techno" after first hearing U96 and some other cheesier stuff in grade 9.

My cousin whom I saw twice a year from Oakville called me out of the blue one day to tell me about this "rave" thing he went to on the weekend that he just couldn't stop talking about and described the music....after a lengthy excited discussion, we agreed that the techno music I was about was what was played at these "raves"

So guess what I got for Christmas that year?

Fabio 3-1993; I still have it somewhere. Man Paris murders it with MC'ing but the track selection is wicked.

Anyways; made my day getting these as I have never heard them before.

thanks for the wicked tunes!
