TITLE: Syrous #01 'The Next Level '
LOCATION: Cinespace Studios, Toronto DATE: September 4th 1993 AUDIO: Only Audio is of 187's Live Set - Audio ATTENDANCE: 700 FEATURED DJS: James St Bass / Jungle PHD / Dr. No / Skipp-E / J-Sun / Sigma-7/ John E / Sean L / The Stinger / Peter The Greek / David Crooke / MC Clive G / Live PA - 187 MEMORIES: The one moment that really sticks out in my mind from this event is when the power went out for over 30 minutes. One of the parking attendents who worked for Cinespace had sabotaged my event by breaking into the studio next to us and killing the power around midnight. Thank god I had the cell number to the owner of the space. Took awhile but we got it fixed. Unfortunatly the parking dude had disapeared by the time it came back on. A spanning Lazer display awoke the crowd. The vibe just exploded!. The night was a success and there was a wicked vibe straight through. DESIGN BY: Chris Smart [ Dj Sigma7 ] - NOTE: Made with various magazine clippings. Mostly from a magazine called Omni Attached image(s) |

The only Audio from this event is of the Live PA 1.8.7 from the US. I only recently found out that this tape was recorded at Syrous. He actually emailed me and asked for a copy after seeing it listed on my encoded tape collection. I had no idea it was the set he played that night. Side A is so oldskool, theres a few good tracks he did. Side B is actually him testing out the sound system with some MC or friend that he brought up with him. Side B is a very short clip, nothing much. Im just happy to find this. I really wish i taped that whole night!
Most played track on the night...Expand your Mind by Foul Play. Big up the B's Wax crew! they were in full control. |

after lisetning to this set, all I have to say is this is a perfect example of the music taht got me into this whole mess. its was different and refreshing, its funny to hear it now, seemed so much faster back then. Incredible set!! one of the best on this page imo. is 187 the guy that put out a few other DnB things not too long ago, or is he different? |

Most of you probably never saw this. Its one of 2 or 3 pre-flyers handed out before i invested into Syrous. This guy George started it up but he was nothing more than a scam artist. He had put flyers out more than twice, each with different dates. He kept pushing the date cause he had no money and no real plan..just a name and a loud mouth. This guy was a character let me tell you. I got interested cause of the name and i was looking to get into producing a Rave. This is the flyer responsible for changing my life pretty much. Of course theres more to how i got the company but thats a long story.

Man I'm loving this stuff. So nostalgic. Crazy how that little piece of paper started it all. Oh, and where's George the scammer now?

A couple years ago while doing a search on Syrous I came across a track 1.8.7 made called Syrous Darkness. I remember it being some official 187 website or something. Its a very short wav sample but its oldskool lol. The name Syrous Darkness could of came from the 30 minute power failure we had this night....who knows
