sob...I was the 97 man...and it is a bit of a weird position when you hear people mention 2000 era events as old. I did not ever think 1997 would seem a long time ago as it seemed so late to get into it at the time.

I think there are still good nights out there. You just have to be selective. I do think it's weird that alot of current Toronto 'ravers' never got to experience a mega party or an event at The Latvian House etc. I guess there is still 3 day but I can't really fathom getting into the scene now. It's so small and in some ways negative. If my first event was a 2001 or 2002 jam I doubt I would have gone again.

However, I think it's important to keep at it if you can. Going out once every couple of months won't kill ya and if you were there for the tunes then you can still get your fix. I just don't looking at going out anymore as a way to meet new people and have strange adventures. Which was a huge part of it so I can understand why people quit.

Partying in other cities is a nice way to keep it fresh.

agreed.

i've had to change my expectations alot over the years. if i keep hoping for a 94 experience i'll always be let down. i'm pretty picky about what i go to but i still make it out when i can. luckily i go to events in all sorts of scenes so between them all i get out alot.

as far as jungle in the tdot goes.. i find oldschool themed parties like gridiron are pretty fun. everyone recognizes and goes off to the classic tunes.

and yeah.. if you want to rave it up like it was 10 years ago.. go over to the UK for an oldschool party.. its still massive over there and not filled with 16 year olds. i'll hopefully be hitting somethiing next year.

My first party was in 98. It was a pHryl party called sHiFt. That night changed my life.

Doc Scott and MC Justice were the headliners. Still have the flyer.

Yes, the scene has changed a lot since then. Not necessarily for the worse though.

Tyrone's first party was my last funny how things work.

I miss the good old days, but i'd rather keep those memories than 'write' over them with new ones.

Things aren't worse or better i think, just different.

very different. The last last party I spun at I got into an argument with some kid that said old school sucked. At that time I was playing "square off". He said this old school shit sucked. I then tried to aks him exactly what old school was to him. He told me I sucked and walked away. I guess he was half right. Yes trancendz, things are different.
